CITY OF VANCOUVER

CENTRAL LIBRARY

The CoV Central Library L8 & L9 Project was to revitalize the City of Vancouver’s landmark downtown Central Library to allow the general public free and open access to a new rooftop garden, silent reading area, and theatre. West Coast Cutting & Coring Group Ltd. (WCC) was awarded the Demolition contract and tasked with removing a large portion of the existing green roof and demolishing the Romanesque arched roof slab, beams, and support columns with extremely limited access and fragile glass atrium below. Simultaneously, WCC saw cut new escalator openings over two floors directly above existing escalators, an active library, and the general public.
